American photographer Laurie Toby Edison (born 1942) has engaged with gender and body image in her books:

Women En Large: Images of Fat Nudes (1994) and

Familiar Men: A Book of Nudes (2004).

More recent work includes Women of Japan which features clothed portraits of women from different social backgrounds.
